Professional Online Guitar Recording Studio
Professional music studios have everything needed to produce music from start to finish
including microphones, analog pre-amps, outboard compressors and EQ, a physical space to record, computers with recording software and experts who know how to use ‘em. A high value to be sure with many benefits, not least of which is the direct communication between the artist, producer, musicians, and mix engineers. Everyone being in the same place at the same time with access to all the tools for making music is a great workflow. I’m Happy to meet you at your preferred studio and create that next hit track.
On the other hand, not everyone has the budget to book studio time, maybe the musicians you want don’t all live in the same city, maybe your daily schedules don’t line up. There are a lot of reasons why the traditional recording model isn’t the right path for many music projects.
Well, I built my own studio space targeted toward online guitar tracking to remove some of the obstacles associated with booking studio time. It saves money, allows us to be more flexible with scheduling, and removes any geographic limitations. My studio is outfitted with professional level equipment to provide high quality pro-grade remote guitar tracking for your project that stands up to anything you hear on the radio or your preferred streaming platform.
Bottom Line - If you’re looking for an online session guitarist, you found ‘em!

How does the remote recording process work?
Recording remote tracks is really simple. All I need is a chord chart, the bpm, and a reference file to record to. Sometimes the client knows exactly what they want me to play, other times its a vague idea or vibe inspired by other music, and in other cases it’s entirely up to me to decide what to do. Just let me know how much creative liberty I should take and I’ll get after it.
Guitars tend to be more in the middle of the recording process, typically happening after foundational instruments like drums and bass. A scratch vocal (or lead melody if it’s an instrumental song) is helpful for knowing where I am in the song. While not absolutely necessary, it’s usually best to track drums and bass first to a scratch piano/vocal or guitar/vocal track, then track the final guitars, pianos, keys and any other utility instrumnents. Guitars happen in layers, so expect a lot of files. Most rhythm lines are recorded in stereo and doubled, possibly even stacked with rakes or hi-strung guitars. Then there are leads, utility parts, ear candy, etc.
Remote Tracking Checklist
Reference Track of the the final form of the song with 2 measures of click at the beginning so I can sync to the grid; ideally with final takes of foundational instrument and a scratch vocal (if there are vocals)
Chord Chart with the final chord changes and roadmap of the song.
Tempo of the song
Creative direction Parts, tones, melodies, etc.
What Do I send back to you?
You’ll receive unedited wave files of all the separate tracks (24bit; 48kHz) with 2 measures of click before the start of the song. In some cases I may send you a bounce of the guitars mixed together in context so you can hear the creative direction I’m taking and your mix engineer can make the final decisions about how they sit in the song.
